What is the difference between hard wax and traditional hard wax?
Fille au Pluriel professional hard wax stands out for its modern, latest-generation formula:
- application in thin layers,
- strong adhesion to hair without sticking to the skin,
- pliable, easy-to-work texture for effective removal,
- less product waste, leading to savings in the treatment room.
Traditional hard wax is a first-generation wax:
- it is applied in a thick layer,
- less pliable and used at a higher temperature,
- it sticks more to the skin because it contains rosin, increasing the risk of irritation or broken hairs.
What is the ideal temperature for professional hard wax?
The exact temperature depends on the equipment used.
The general rule is to heat the wax until it has a pliable texture that is easy to apply, neither too thick nor too runny, and adheres well to the hair.
To check the texture:
- if the wax will not stay on the spatula, it is too hot,
- if it forms strings or breaks, it is too cold.
For which hair types is hard wax recommended?
Hard wax is suitable for:
- all hair types: fine, coarse, short or stubborn,
- all skin types: normal or sensitive,
- any area that requires precise, gentle removal.
It is ideal for treatments where precision and comfort are essential.
Which areas can I use hard wax on?
Hard wax is generally applied to small areas: the face, underarms and bikini line.
At Fille au Pluriel, our two hard wax ranges can also be used on large areas: legs, chest, back and arms.
- Small sensitive areas: face, underarms, bikini line → Travel and Treats or New Generation range
- Large areas: legs, chest, back, arms → New Generation range
Hard wax offers precision, comfort and gentleness for clean, consistent results in the salon.
What are the advantages of wax beads or discs?
Compared with wax blocks, beads or discs offer several advantages:
- Easy, precise portioning to avoid waste,
- Fast, even melting for efficient work,
- Convenient storage, with less risk of oxidation or contamination,
- Quickly refill the wax heater between clients, thanks to fast melting.
Is hard wax suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. All our hard waxes are rosin-free, which reduces the risk of allergies and irritation.
They adhere strongly to hair while being gentle on the skin, for optimal client comfort.
How do I apply hard wax properly in a salon?
- Work in a thin or medium layer, depending on the range chosen,
- Spread the wax in the direction of hair growth,
- Let it set slightly before removing it with a quick motion parallel to the skin,
- Remove it in one motion while holding the skin taut to prevent hair breakage.
How can I avoid residue when using hard wax?
Avoiding residue lets you work more cleanly and quickly in the treatment room.
To achieve this:
- Heat the wax to the right temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, so it adheres properly to the hair.
- Apply the wax evenly, in a thin or medium layer depending on the range chosen.
- Shape the edges of each wax strip properly, and avoid leaving thin, lacy edges when removing it.
Following these steps gives you clean, comfortable, residue-free waxing for excellent results and a pleasant experience for the client.
How should I store professional hard wax properly?
- Store the wax away from moisture and excessive heat,
- Keep it in its original container, closed,
- Check the expiration date and open-jar symbol to see how long the wax can be used after opening.
What does hard wax, or strip-free wax, contain?
Our waxes contain:
- Polycyclopentadiene : a synthetic resin that ensures rosin-free adhesion to the hair,
- Oils and film-forming agents: to keep the wax pliable and gentle, make application easier and protect the skin,
- Texture agents: to make the wax smoother and less sticky,
- Colorants and fragrances: to add a pleasant sensory touch to the waxing experience.
